United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate Simon Kiambi has won the Kiagu Ward by-election in Imenti Central, Meru.
Kiambi garnered 2,240 votes against his rival Milton Mwenda of Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party, who garnered 1,823 votes in second place.
Jubilee’s aspirant Samson Kinyua Magambo came third with 1,609 votes.
“I ask all my competitors to join me so that we build this Ward. A competition is not enmity. I thank residents for having faith in me and voting me under the UDA party. Let us build it together for progress,” Ngaruni said.
The seat fell vacant after the demise of Eunice Karegi who died of cancer in May this year.
At the same time, Jubilee Party’s Donald Fundi won the Mahoo Ward by-election with 1,609 votes ahead of UDA’s Daniel Kimuyu who came second with 1,358 votes.
Deputy President William Ruto has congratulated the two UDA candidates in the by-elections stating that the ‘Bottom-Up’ economic model is gaining ground.
