The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) have defended the Jubilee government over claims that it is not committed to solve land injustices in Coast region.
The Council has maintained that the current government has made a great step in solving the problem than the previous three regimes by issuing millions of title deeds to the residents who were landless.
Speaking in Kinondo when the Council met women leaders, CIPK Organizing Secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa accused the opposition leaders for failing to offer title deeds while in coalition government.
He said Jubilee has not been in power for many years.
“If it is about questioning who has the will to solve the land issue we have to start with those who have been in power before. Jubilee has done a lot in their 4 years” he said.
Khalifa also urged politicians not to politicize security matters and deal with it in a more decorum manner
.CIPK have endorsed the re election of Uhuru Kenyatta and have been meeting women in Kwale urging them to also re elect governor Salim Mvurya who is vying on Jubilee ticket.
Khalifa called on Kenyans to exercise their campaigns peacefully and extend the peace during voting.
“Election is not a fight, just campaign and vote for whoever you want and remain peaceful because peace is important than anything else” he said.
“Politicians who incite locals to violence are like witches who want to get leader through violent means. Let us avoid the completely”
Kwale County CIPK chair Abdallah Funga said the Jubilee government should get another term to complete its development agenda.
