The National Police Service (NPS) has asked the female employee captured in a viral video being dehumanised by her male employer as she demanded her wages at Kitengela’s Rixxos Lounge to file a formal complaint with the police.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow through a statement said the NPS could not proceed with legal action against the man until the woman filed an official complaint at any local station.
“The National Police Service has taken note of a distasteful video clip circulating on social media showing a man alleged to be the owner of Rixxos Lounge in Kitengela harassing and threatening a female employee demanding her unpaid salary,” NPS stated.
“In accordance with the National Police Service to serve and protect all citizens we have commenced our investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, we are urging the lady in the video to file a formal complaint at any police station to enable the police take the most appropriate legal action into the matter,” NPS added.
In the video, a middle-aged man is seen and heard threatening a woman whose voice is heard in the background.
He is seen showing his phone to the woman saying he had connections with powerful people in the government and that the woman would do nothing against him.
The video has since created public outrage, with Kenyans on social media calling on relevant authorities to take action against the businessman.
Allegations have also emerged that the businessman has done this to a number of his employees and that he has in the past used a firearm to scare them away.
