The outgoing principal secretary in the State Department for Citizen Services in the Ministry of Interior Karanja Kibicho has today handed over office to incoming PS Julius Bitok.
At a hand over ceremony held at Nyayo House Nairobi in the presence of different heads of departments in the ministry, Kibicho congratulated Bitok on his appointment.
“I want to congratulate Julius Bitok for his appointment in the ministry. I am handing over to you a team of diligent and professional civil servants,” he said.
Having served in office for seven years, Kibicho assured the new PS of his support in matters regarding the state department.
On his side, Bitok expressed gratitude and committed to working in accordance with the law in serving everyone with utmost fairness.
“I promise the members of this state department to stick to the law and I look forward to working with all players in this state department,” Bitok said.
He outlined three key areas he would focus on as he took on the PS mantle; mainly immigration where his plan would be to transform it into a service that can be more responsive to the needs of Kenyans.
He added that plans were underway to digitise a target of 5,000 services and to rebrand the Huduma number to a more respectable service.
He attributed Kibicho as loyal, committed and dedicated as he served during his term as PS.
President William Ruto had accused Kibicho of being behind the deep state that was determined to edge out Kenya Kwanza from government.
In his defence, Kibicho who at the time worked under former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi denied the accusations that the government was using administration officers to rig the August 9 elections.
