Governor Sakaja meets stakeholders to address the transport nuisance in the city

Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has today brokered pact based on goodwill with the Matatu Owners Association (MOA) to have all uniformed school going children ferried for free to ease the financial strain among struggling parents and guardians.

Sakaja brokered the deal during a meet with transport stakeholders in Nairobi among them MOA and officials from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to discuss issues affecting the industry at City Hall, Nairobi.

NTSA was represented by Director General George Njau.

He also ordered immediate ban of Tuk Tuk and unlicensed taxis from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

“We are going to launch the Green Park terminus and we will not turn back at all,” reiterated Sakaja.

While condemning the Kasarani killer building incident, the governor said he is in talks with the Kasarani DCI detectives investigating the matter saying the owner of the collapsed building, Joel Kamau Kibe that killed three people should be charged with murder.

“Impunity must end in Nairobi. There is no one who is above the law in Nairobi,” said Sakaja.

At the same time, the governor said the Green park bus terminus will be launched on December 1, 2022 and is set to serve only the long distance travelers leaving and coming in the city from other parts of the country.

He defended the artistic grafitti culture saying it is a way of nurturing talents

He hinted at launching the ‘Sakaja Awards’ for best performing Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) based on discipline and performance to tame rogue culture in the transport industry within the city.
