Northern Kenya leaders demand more appointments in Ruto’s administration
The Northern Kenyan leaders are now demanding more national appointments in the administration of President William Ruto claiming the recent nomination to cabinet of Aden Duale is not enough.
President Ruto named the Garissa Township Member of Parliament (MP) as Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee.
“It is with gratitude and happiness that we welcome the appointment of honourable Aden Bare Duale to the Cabinet Secretary position.” Mandera West legislator Abdirahman Hassan said.
They, however, called upon the president to appoint more individuals from the area for other remaining roles among them Ambassadorial and other state positions.
Other leaders present include; Adan Hajji, Yussuf Fara (Wajir West), Bashir Abdulahi (Mandera North) and Salah Yakub (Fafi Garisa)
Others were Hussein Maali, Ahmed Kolosh, Ambassador Mahat Adan and Sheikh Mohamed Osman.
“As leaders, elders, professional and youth from the Region, we hereby affirm our support and commitment for H.E William S. Ruto and his Government,” observed Abdirahman.
They also urged the government to move with speed in offering relief food to the starving population mostly from Arid and Semi-Arid Areas (ASALs) in the drought stricken regions.
At least three million Kenyans in twenty-three counties are facing starvation.
