The leader of the dreaded ‘Confirm gang’, Dickson Macharia Waithera alias Deco has been arrested in Nakuru.
Nakuru County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo said that the alleged gang leader was apprehended following intelligence reports.
While briefing the media, Mwanzo said that ‘Deco’ and other gang members have been operating in Nakuru town, but some of the members have since moved to villages to evade arrest.
“We arrested him with one sack of bhang, opium, heroin, and mobile phones,” he said.
A crackdown against the gang started after at least six women were killed in Mawanga Estate and 140 members of the gang have been arrested so far while five are facing murder charges.
Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mohamed had announced the formation of a special police squad to smoke out suspected gang members in June.
The squad named ‘Confirm’ worked toward dismantling the ring comprising unemployed youths from the suburbs of Nakuru.
