Mount Kenya University has boosted its scholarship kitty by allowing students who study at the prestigious institution or potential ones who would like to join but are in dire need of financial support to apply for the school’s scholarships that are currently on offer.
According to MKU Founder and Chairman, Prof Simon N. Gicharu, it is through such initiatives that the learning establishment offers, that students with financial challenges have been able to complete their studies.
“Resources like this not only serve and apply to the university’s students, but also support other young Kenyans who are in tremendous need of psychosocial support to navigate many of life’s obstacles,” he said.
As per Gicharu’s comments, students who lack funds are still able to complete their education on time without any delay.
The private university was taking into consideration more increment of its scholarship fund to give many deserving learners the grand opportunity to discover their potential, realise their dreams and have a significant impact on the society and the world at large.
More than 400 students have greatly benefitted in the three cycles of the MKU Internal Scholarship calls. 231 students sent their scholarship applications in the last phase and 163 got awarded.
The university’s external scholarships are offered in conjunction with the school’s partners. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is one of MKU’s associates which thanks to the collaboration between the two organisations, 42 Master’s health sciences students have benefitted from their scholarships with the first batch of beneficiaries expected to graduate today.
Mount Kenya University was selected by DAAD in 2018 and 2019 to offer graduate scholarships in the health sciences, specifically Master of Science in Nursing and Masters in Public Health.
