Voters in Kiambu have been cautioned against electing Independent candidates during the August polls.
This is because the move will weaken the party and give the opposition the might to antagonize the government in the event Jubilee wins the general elections.
JP parliamentary candidate for Limuru constituency Peter Mwathi said that if they elect aspirants allied to other parties, the government might not be able to secure important seats in the Audience house.
Mwathi who is the former area MP told residents that seats like that of leader of the majority might go the opposition since the opposition was campaigning for six pattern voting.
He also urged residents to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto by electing JP candidates in their strongholds so.
Mwathi said a lot of candidates who lost in the JP nominations resigned and joined as independent and seeking for votes.
“It will be frustrating to elect leaders who are not from JP, since the government will lose seats such as the leader of the majority. This is an important seat. If it goes to the opposition, they can introduce an impeachment motion and disturb the government” he said.
“On the other hand, we also appeal to the residents to elect candidates of JP. We campaigned for the certificates and I won. I appeal to you to vote for me because am not new to the area and know your needs and challenges. We have been with you all along” he said.
He was speaking to his supporters at Kirathimo social hall yesterday after he was cleared by the IEBC to campaign and handed over a campaign certificate by area returning officer Lucy Munyiri.
