Fuel prices will remain unchanged over the next one month after the government allocated a further Sh16.7 billion to the fuel stabilisation mechanism.
This means diesel will continue to retail at Sh140, petrol at Sh159.12 and kerosene at Sh127.94.
Through a statement, State House disclosed the government had extended the cover which was set for wind up with the National Treasury previously indicating plans to roll-back the subsidy.
“It is notified that his Excellency the President has today authorized an additional fuel subsidy of Sh16.7 billion so as to cushion Kenyans from a further increase in fuel prices,” read the statement.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) was scheduled to announce the revised prices today.
