Mombasa Catholic Archbishop Martin Kivuva has urged Kenyans to emulate former President Mwai Kibaki ahead of this year’s general election.
Archbishop Kivuva made this sentiment during the state funeral mass of the late President Kibaki at the Nyayo National Stadium yesterday.
The archbishop asked especially the leading presidential candidates to unite the country and practice servant leadership.
Leaders from other denominations also took part in the event. Nyeri Archbishop, who was also present, said President Kibaki had a lot of respect for church. “He never demanded to talk to the congregation when he attended the church services,“ he said.
Archbishop Kivuva encouraged Kenyans to walk in the light of God and mediate upon the after-life. ”Kibaki stood for governance through institutions and not personalities,” he added.
“How I live will determine what happens after my death, We are constantly reminded of death all the time, what will you be remembered for if you die?” Kivuva asked.
