President Uhuru Kenyatta has stated that no amount of abusive language will deter him from working to ensure the country is peaceful and united under the spirit of the handshake.
While addressing the traders at Kenyatta Market, Kenyatta pointed out that their mockery of his pact with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga in the famous 2018 Handshake would not hinder him from accomplishing his projects and keeping the country united.
“No amount of abusive language will deter me from working to ensure the country is peaceful and united under the spirit of the handshake,” he said.
The Head of State also disregarded the litany of abuses launched against him by Deputy president William Ruto and his brigade.
“We have made an agreement with your chairman that there are areas that need lights for those working 24 hours without fear. As of tomorrow, I will send people who will look into the problem. So there are those who keep insisting that my government has not delivered on its promises. Is it true or false?” he posed to the crowd who answered in unison that his administration had delivered.
The Head of State broke president protocol by driving himself to the capital with three Nairobi County Assembly leaders.
Kenyatta was on an inspection tour of projects when he requested to be accompanied by Majority Leader Abdi Ibrahim Guyo, Majority Chief Whip Paul Kiguathi Kados and Robert Mbatia, the chairman of the Budget and Appropriation Committee.
The four leaders later had lunch at Kenyatta Market of Nyama.
Kenyatta also highlighted the achievements made by his government within the area ordering that the market be fully illuminated so that traders could work 24 hours a day to increase their earnings.
The market has so far been completely renovated, with the floor repaired and leaking roofs replaced.
