A school principal has been arrested for alleged KCSE examinations theft in Machakos County.
Betta Mutuku of ABC Kiseveni Secondary School within Machakos subcounty was arrested by Directorate Criminal Investigative(DCI) officers today morning.
The detectives were led by Machakos subcounty Criminal Investigations Officer Rhoda Kanyi who said they acted on intelligence information.
She said Mutuku allegedly committed the crime last evening.
The suspect was whisked to Machakos police station where she is currently being questioned by CID officers.
The principal’s phone was confiscated by the police officers to aid in the investigations.
This comes barely a week after Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha confirmed that eight candidates were found with mobile phones in examination rooms.
Addressing the media, Magoha said 15 cell phones were also confiscated.
“The phones were confiscated from various centres and are with the authorities as investigations continue. We want to find out what are in the phones,” he said.
Some of those arrested have already been arraigned in court for various charges relating to examination malpractices.
