A Somali national was yesterday charged before a Nairobi court with forging a letter to obtain a Kenyan passport purporting it to have been issued by Garissa Town MP Aden Duale.
Hassan Osman Dahir appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and denied two counts of presenting false documents for the purpose of obtaining a passport.
The court heard that on December 4 at the Immigration Department in Nairobi, for the purpose of obtaining a Kenyan passport, the accused presented a false letter dated the same date, purporting it to have been issued by Duale, a fact he knew to be false.
Mutuku ordered the accused to be released on a bond of Sh200,00 or cash bail of Sh100,000.
The case will be mentioned on January 6, 2021 for pretrial. Meanwhile in the same court, a city businessman Joseph Nunda Awich was charged with obtaining credit of Sh600,000 from a Micro finance company by false pretences.
Awich was accused that with intent to defraud, he obtained a credit of Sh400,000 from Deely Capital Limited, a micro finance company by falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay for a loan.
