Three Medical officers all attached to public hospitals in Nairobi arrested in connection to cross-border child trafficking syndicate.
The three doctors who are; Fred Leparan, Emma Mutio, and Regina Musembi all from Mama Lucy hospital were arrested on Tuesday 17th and arraigned in court.
According to the documents provided in court, the 1st respondent is seen in a clip negotiating with an undercover journalist to sell a child that had been abandoned at Mama Lucy Hospital then rats out the 2nd and 3rd respondents.
Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai said that it was unfortunate that it was realised that senior medical officers in collusion with child smuggling are highly involved.
“All County Police Commanders to work closely with local children officers and other local security agencies to immediately undertake investigations on matters touching on child trafficking in their respective regions especially in local public, private hospitals and children homes,” Mutyambai directed.
Mutyambai further appealed to Kenyans to report any suspicious activities related to child trafficking crimes in any part of the country.
