Seventy five members of a juvenile machete wielding criminal gang that has been terrorizing people in Likoni area of Mombasa have surrendered to the police.
The group is part of about 250 youths who have so far handed over their weapons in the ongoing amnesty for criminals to surrender.
The youths handed over dozens of machetes, fifty Knife, masks and rungus they have been using to carry out attacks on innocent people in the area.
This comes just three days after two of them were killed in a fight between two rival gangs in Mtongwe area.
Human rights activist and local peace ambassadors who initiated the surrender process said the group is part of the over 800 young thugs blamed for criminal activities in the sub-county.
Kassim Khamisi Omondi, 23 and Abdhala Shaban, 22, who are both resident of Majengo Mapya admitted to be a member of Geta Criminal gang, a former football club, which later metamorphosed into a criminal gang.
The two claimed they had dodged bullets while on their way to surrender to the police.
