A aspirant eyeing for Baringo Central parliamentary seat was forced to flee for safety after chaos nearly erupted while launching Jubilee smart cards at Kabarnet Museum grounds in the constituency.
David Kiplagat Kipkerich who is among the 10, 000 people tasked by Jubilee Party to distribute the Smart Cards was forced to immediately stop distributing cards yesterday after some goons believed to be supporters of current MP Sammy Mwaita attempted to snatch the cards from him.
It took the intervention of police officers to calm the situation and from there the aspirant returned all the 10, 000 Smart Cards saying he will plan for days when he will personally visit each of the Wards in the constituency and distribute them in person.
Kipkerich who earlier spoke to the press urged Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to in future change its tactics so as to improve registration of voters in pastoral regions currently hit by drought like Baringo county which recorded low registration numbers as per the weekly analysis released yesterday by IEBC.
The Nairobi based Lawyer who preferred door-to-door approach argued that stationing of BVR kits in registration centres may not yield much as most residents from the pastoral regions are spending much of their time searching for water and pasture hence they will not get time to visit registration centres.
