Five suspects accused of abducting a four-year old boy in Thika town will have to spend two more weeks in custody after they were denied bail.
Patrick Nthemba, Jecinta Nduta, Faith Kamwaro, Monica Mululu and Susan Gitonga were arrested by security officers at Kasarani after they abducted the child from his home and demanded Sh2.2 million ransom to release him.
The court heard that on diverse dates between December 17, 2016 and January 6, 2017, the five and two others not before the court conspired to commit a crime at Section Nine in Thika with an aim of obtaining ransom.
Chief prosecutor Minoo Maundu however requested the court to continue holding them so that they don’t interfere with witnesses, abscond court proceedings or threaten the complainants’ family.
