You cannot destroy my relationship with Mt Kenya, Ruto tells Gachagua

President William Ruto has affirmed today that he still holds a firm grip over the Mt Kenya region in their continued supremacy battle over the region with his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking in Meru during his second day of the Mt Kenya tour, Ruto claimed that his relationship with the residents of Mount Kenya spans over twenty years.
The head of state affirmed that he shall not allow anyone to come between him and the region’s residents and destroy the cordial relationship he has built for over 20 years.
“The friendship I have created with the people of Meru, the Mt Kenya region has lasted for over 20 years, and no one will come between us. I shall not accept anyone to break the relationship,” Ruto stated.
He added that he will ensure the needs of Mt Kenya residents and those of other Kenyans are well taken care of by his administration.
“I shall stand firm and will not allow anyone to destroy the work we have done. I shall ensure that your needs and those of other Kenyans are well taken care of,” he added.
Ruto promised to fulfill his manifesto to the people of Kenya as he promised in 2022.
During the tour in Meru today, the president hinted at onboarding former Governor and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya and Mithika Linturi in his administration.
There has been political tension in the Mt Kenya region, with President Ruto only visiting it six months after the impeachment of Gachagua, which sparked a revolt.
Speaking in Wangige, Kiambu County, yesterday, Gachagua called on the president to stop riding on projects done by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He accused the head of state of not fulfilling any of his 2022 promises, as he told him to speak the truth.
“As you come here, speak the truth. All these projects in the Mt Kenya region were initiated by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. You have refused to finish them. None is yours. Do not dare lie to the people,” Gachagua stated.
The president is expected to visit more counties in the region tomorrow and commission projects.
