US government through USAID donates ventilators to different counties to assist in fight against COVID-19
The government of the United through the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated ten state-of-the-art ventilators to the Murang’a County government to assist its fight against COVID-19.
The U.S. government made the donations to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital earlier today.
The donation was received by Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria and committed they will continue to offer free intensive care services to all Kenyans.
“My administration will continue offering free intensive care services to all Kenyans irrespective of counties they come from and thanked USAID for the well deserved and timely assistance.” he said.
The governor also announced that the biggest Oxygen Generating Plant in Mt Kenya 50 per cent complete awaiting commissioning.
The donation delivers on leadership and the people of the united states of America generous offer of these critically needed supplies and support to the Murang’a’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
USAID is funding a tailored package of support that includes accompanying equipment, service plans, and technical assistance.
As part of the Journey to Self-Reliance, USAID will be training health care workers not only on how to use the ventilators, but also on critical care patient management.
121 patients so far have been admitted at ICU and Treated free of charge.
Later in the day, Meru county received 7 ventilators for Meru Level 5 hospital which were proudly donated by the U.S. government to support efforts to manage COVID-19 patients and others who may require mechanical ventilation.
They were received by Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi.
In Embu, the U.S government donated 10 ventilators and equipment such as roller cart stands, UPS units and oxygen administration consumables to Embu County Referral Hospital which was received by the Deputy governor of Embu David kariuki Njeru.
