UDA party primaries date set for April 14

The United Democratic Alliance UDA) will hold its party primaries on April 14. Through its National Election Board, the party has assured Kenyans that it will hold free and fair elections and has no preferred candidates.

Currently, the party has about 5,700 aspirants and it intends to hold free and fair elections in areas where more than one aspirant has expressed interest in vying.

The nomination fee for those eyeing the presidency seat will be Sh 1 million, while the fee is half for female and youth candidates. At the same time, it is free for persons living with disabilities.

Men seeking to be nominated for the governor position will be charged Sh500,000 fee, Sh250,000 for women, and zero charges for PWDs.

The senator position will attract a charge of Sh250,000 for men while women and youth will part with Sh125,000.

Aspirants eyeing the woman representative seat will be charged Sh250,000, while the youth will be required to fork out Sh125,000.

For the Member of Parliament seat, aspirants will be charged Sh250,000 for men and Sh125,000 for women and youth, respectively.

Member of County Assembly positions will attract a charge of Sh50,000 and Sh25,000 for the women and youth.

PWDs will be exempted from all charges within the nomination process.

Meanwhile, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is set to hold its party primaries between April 1 and 21, 2022.

Both parties are staring at the huge task of ensuring that the process is free and fair.
