Two dead, 57 rescued from suspected indoctrination in Migori
They were recovered by the Police after the area Assistant Chief reported that a person had died at the said church in a mysteriously suspicious manner.

Fifty seven people, aged between five and 77 years were rescued by the police from a local church in Kanyadiedo area, Kamagambo in Migori County, where they were suspected to be engaging in religious fanaticism.
According to a police report seen by The Informer Media Group, the 57 were found residing inside the St. Joseph Mission of Africa Church located in the area.
They were rescued by the police after the area Assistant Chief reported that a person had died at the said church in a mysteriously suspicious manner.
The Sub-County Security and Intelligence team, which included officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, proceeded to the church where they found a lifeless body in the prayer room of the church.
The body had been fully covered in a white robe and wrapped in a grey sheet.
An inspection by the security team revealed that the body of the man who was identified as Francis Muli had some injuries on the face, and foam was oozing from the mouth.
The recovery of Muli’s body came after another dead body had been recovered from the same place. After the body was dispatched to the morgue, it was then that the police conducted a search in the Church and managed to rescue 57 people residing within the Church.
The police stated that some of those rescued were looking frail.
“Assistant chief of Kanyadiedo sub-location, Abiud Rariende, reported that a person had died suspiciously at St. Joseph Missions of Africa Church located at Kochola village within his sub-location. The sub-county security and intelligence committee proceeded to the Scene and found the lifeless body of Francis Muli of unknown age lying on the floor of a prayer room within the Church compound. The body was fully covered in a white robe and wrapped in a grey sheet. When inspected, it had some injuries on the face, and foam was oozing from the mouth,” the police report stated.
The police escorted the 57 to Rongo sub-County Hospital for medical attention, but all of them flatly refused to be examined by medical officers and began to make noises and sing religious songs.
When they persisted, the medical officers advised that the group should be removed from the hospital since they were disturbing the other patients at the facility.
They were taken to the station to await further directives as detectives continue with investigations.
