Three people lost their lives in a morning grisly accident that involved a 14-seater matatu on July 20, 2022, around 8:30 pm along the Narok- Bomet highway.
The matatu collided head-on with a lorry with police officers saying the lorry driver sustained tissue injuries in his right leg and a male passenger, who was also in the lorry, escaped without an injury.
According to eyewitnesses, the matatu with ten passangers on board swerved and rolled several times to avoid a head on collision with a motorcycle rider.
Consequently, it crashed head on with an on coming lorry.
Preliminary police findings show that the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) swerved while trying to avoid hitting a motorcyclist.
Two middle-aged men and a woman died on the spot while eight matatu passengers sustained serious injuries, and were taken to Longisa County Referral Hospital.
The bodies of the three dead passengers were taken to Longisa County Referral Morgue while the rubbles of the vehicles were taken to Ololulunga Police Station.
