Schools to receive third term monies by next week before they reopen, Magoha says
Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has said that all schools will receive their third-term monies by next week before they reopen.
Speaking in Mombasa while presiding over the official opening of Kenya Primary School Heads Association 17th annual delegates conference the CS assured the school heads that the Treasury will channel the funds to schools next week when schools open for the third term school calendar on January 4, 2022.
“So this parent does not want child to go to school let him keep the child at home. Because we have told heads that if it is a genuine case then let them take what the parent has brought to school and agree how the rest will be paid,” he said.
“No Kenyan child should be out of school because of fees in new year, the government will ensure money is there by that time by January.”
Additionally, the CS asked the headteachers to be keen on unruly students ahead of the KCPE and KCSE examinations.
Magoha wants teachers to be keen on keeping notorious students away from school, lest arson incidents are reported again.
“The renegade children who want to go home to rest, we shall allow them. If there is a child who doesn’t want to go to school and wants to go and rest with his parents, to take exams from home, let him go, rather than destroy the infrastructure, because its very ridiculous for a child because you want everyone to suffer therefore you burn the school and everyone suffers we are going to be extremely vigilant,” CS Magoha said.
On Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) the CS dismissed the critics saying its learner centered and prepares the pupils with required skills for the competent job market.
KEPSHA national chairman Johnson Nzioki assured parents that school heads will ensure the CBC is assessed seamlessly and pupils get their worth.
