Cooking oil, fertiliser prices to skyrocket – manufacturers say

Prices of cooking oil, fertiliser and wheat flour will go up due to the current Russia-Ukraine war.

This is due to the disruption of several supply chains that facilitate the raw material.

Other factors such as inflation and the rising oil prices will also play a significant role in the same.

Kenyans will be forced to brave the high prices of commodities such as cooking oil.

Key products used in the manufacture such as sunflower are currently facing a shortage and Ukraine are the largest exporter of sunflowers.

Last week Agriculture CS Peter Munya told Kenyans that there was a possibility commodity involved in the production would go up.

This comes amid a stalemate between the Budget allocation committee and the Treasury over the approval of a supplementary budget to help subsidise fertiliser.
