Sakaja, Wanyonyi meeting sparks political controversy
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) gubernatorial candidate for Nairobi, Johnson Sakaja is set to reveal specifics of his April 22 encounter with Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi, which has sparked political controversy.
Speaking during UDA nomination certificate award ceremony, Sakaja stated that they had agreed to collaborate citing their shared interests in Nairobi County.
He also noted that he will reveal the details when the time came.
“When we met, we sat together as brothers I sympathized with what happened to him (urged to step down in favour of former Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe) and we agreed that we are going to work together because what is important is the vision for this city,” stated Sakaja.
Wanyonyi was the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) gubernatorial candidate, however he was forced to withdraw after Azimio’s candidate Polycarp Igathe was handed the ticket after consensus talks within the party.
Sakaja also vowed that if he wins, his administration will provide free lunch to all public primary school children.
“The first thing we are going to do is bring a school feeding program in Nairobi every child in public primary schools with get 650 grams of free lunch everyday so that we keep our students in school,” said Sakaja.
