Ruto in South Rift, Raila in Mt. Kenya in vote hunt mission

The Azimio-One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance counterpart William Ruto have scheduled series of rallies in an effort to sway the three million voters who are believed to still be undecided

With 15 days to the election, Ruto rallied his support in Kapkatet, Kericho county, today in an effort to fortify momentum before the presidential election.

He was accompanied by his key allies who include his running mate Rigathe Gachagua (UDA), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Senator Moses Wetangula (FORD Kenya), Gatundu MP Moses Kuria (CCK), and House Speaker Justin Muturi, Ruto arrived at Kapkatet grounds to a raucous greeting (DP).

Ruto’s allies commended Wafula Chebukati, the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), while criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta for what they called deliberate attempts to rig the election.

“President Kenyatta must cease undermining the IEBC by abusing the police and state institutions. You have no right to threaten the IEBC since it was set up by the constitution to oversee elections,” Wetangula remarked.

He continued, “We stand here to reassure Chebukati and his staff that we have entire trust, confidence, and faith in you and that we will ensure you conduct an acceptable and credible election.

Whereas, Raila addressed supporters in Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Laikipia, and in Nyandarua during the highly awaited election.

Mama Ida Odinga has advised Kenyans to choose leaders that have their nation’s best interests at heart as the nation prepares for the general election in August.

In remarks made yesterday at a rally, she urged Kenyans not to elect the wrong leaders as a result of giveaways.

“You can’t waste your chances because someone has given you petty shillings, don’t sell your birthright for small things, the mistake has been done, this is a rare opportunity that we have this year to elect leaders of integrity, leaders with ability, and leaders who can work to change our lives for the better,” Ida said.
