Radio47 retains top five position, latest statistics show

The station’s rise to become the fastest growing in the country is partly due to the huge investment put into talent attraction

Radio47 is still among the top five radio stations in the country, according to the latest Ipsos Kenya Audience Tracker report.

The station is placed at position four with 5.8 per cent share of the radio segment in the country, which is dominated by Radio Citizen with a 208 per cent share.

Kameme Radio comes second with 7.5 per cent, followed by Radio Jambo (7.2 per cent) while Ramogi FM is third with 6.7 per cent.

The report shows other big names trailed Radio47 with Radio Maisha in sixth place with 4.9 per cent followed by Milele FM (4.7 per cent) and Inooro FM (4.0 per cent).

The State of the Media Report, 2023/2024 released by the Media Council of Kenya had similarly placed Radio47 in the top five with 5.0 per cent of the market share.

Radio Citizen was the leading station with 22 per cent of the audience followed by Radio Jambo (14 per cent), Radio Maisha (11 per cent) and Milele FM (6 per cent).

Radio47’s big entry into the market did not go unnoticed.

“Radio47, a new entrant is up at 5 percent, there is something they are doing right,” CEO David Omwoyo said during the release of the report.

The station’s rise to become the fastest growing in the country is partly due to the huge investment put into talent attraction with big names from established media houses joining its stable in the past two years.

Its top presenters include BBG Mkamburi Chigogo, Fred Arocho, Elizabeth Mutuku, Dr Ofweneke, AlI Hassan Kaulen, Billy Miya, Emmanuel Mwashumbe, Mbaruk Mwalimu, Eva Mwalili, DJ Immo and Manucho the Young Baller.
