Rapper goddess Femi One delivered an electrifying performance as the only female headliner at the Bingwa Fest in Meru last weekend. The celebrated artiste took centre stage, showcasing her undeniable talent and reaffirming her position as a trailblazer for women in the music industry.

Fresh off the release of a career-defining collaboration with Yemi Alade and Konshens, it is clear that Femi One is still going to be top of her game this year.

Speaking about the milestone, the Kaka Emprire-signed artiste said, “Being the only female headliner at Bingwa Fest was such a powerful moment. It’s not just about me; it’s about representing all the women who are pushing boundaries in music. The energy from the Meru crowd was unmatched, and I’m grateful for their love and support.”

Femi One (real name Wanjiku Kimani) is known for her hit songs such as Utawezana ft Mejja, Mkali Wao, Under The Influence ft Nyashinski, Pilau Njeri, Donjo, Ligi Soo Remix, Tippy Toe, Balance, Suspect, Skia, and Form Today.

Since launching her career in 2013, she has released two albums Dem Kutoka Mwiki (2023) and Greatness (2021, and an Extended Play (EP) titled XXV (2019).

Femi One made history in 2021 after becoming the first African female Monster Energy brand ambassador in March 2021. She also boasts as the most streamed female rapper in East Africa on YouTube with a total of over 18 million streams on the platform.

In a ceremony held in Dallas, Texas in the US, the artiste won the Best Female Rapper of the Year award at the 2022 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), becoming the first female rapper from Kenya and East Africa to win in this category.
