Prisons Nairobi edges out Kenya Army in five-set epic clash as Posta shine
Their composure under pressure was everything when it mattered most
The 4th leg of the KVF National Women’s League got off to a pulsating start as Prisons Nairobi overcame Kenya Army 3-2 in a grueling five-set thriller at Nyayo National Stadium. Both teams showcased skill, resilience, and determination in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
It was a very favorable start for the military side as they took the first set 25-15.However the Prisons team had a good battle with the opponents in the second set to win a close 26-24 result. Prisons once again just narrowly took the third set 25-23 as they began to get into momentum.
Kenya Army refused to back down; leveling the match with a 25-16 win in what was an improved performance in the fourth set. Both sides deployed fresh blood and tactics as a winner was sought in the titanic clash. The decider was quite epic and kept fans on the edge of their seats literally, but Prisons Nairobi held firm to the end to win by a tight 19-17.
Prisons Nairobi’s composure under pressure was everything when it mattered particularly in the important points of the decider. Kenya Army’s strong start showed promise, but they could not close it out when opportunity showed. Nonetheless, it was a good tasty match filled with rallies, attacks and blocks that entertained the crowd.
Meanwhile, former champions Kenya Prisons saw off Kenya Defense Forces (KDF)3-0(25-14/25-22/25-20).KDF took their time to settle in the first set and ended up trailing Prisons to the very end and lost 25-14).
The soldiers found their footing in the second and third sets respectively as they proved resistant for the better part of the two sets but were unable to bag points where it mattered the most to eventual lose the sets and the match altogether.
Post Bank women’s volleyball team Thursday recorded their fourth win of the season in a one sided encounter against Young Spykers 3-0(25-6,25-8,25-9) during the fourth leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation women’s National League at the Nyayo National Stadium outdoor court, Nairobi.
Young Spykers who are third from bottom with three points in the league standings will battle defending champions KCB Women’s Volleyball Team on Friday, while the bankers who have a date with Marantha have eight points from six matches and are ranked sixth in the 12-team League.
