President Ruto congratulates Waiguru’s son as he weds Joanne Rodriguez

President William Ruto on Saturday, August 29, 2026 attended the wedding of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru’s son, Njuguna Waiguru, and Joanne Rodriguez, where he congratulated the newlyweds and urged them to build a strong and enduring marriage.
Njuguna and Joanne exchanged vows in an exclusive ceremony attended by family members and friends, who gathered to celebrate their union.
In his message to the couple, Ruto encouraged them to grow together and remain committed through the different seasons of married life.
“May you build a strong and happy home, grow together through every season of life, and find in each other enduring friendship, strength and companionship,” Ruto said.
The president further urged the couple to support one another, exercise patience and practise forgiveness as they navigate their life together.
“As you walk this journey together, stand by each other, listen with patience, forgive generously and never stop choosing one another. May your marriage be blessed with lasting love, abundant joy and many wonderful years together,” he added.
Ruto later extended his warm congratulations to the couple, describing their wedding as the beginning of their life together in marriage.
The ceremony was marked by an elegant décor scheme dominated by cascading red floral arrangements, hanging red lanterns and white parasols carried by members of the bridal party. The colourful setting was complemented by lush greenery, creating a striking backdrop for the celebrations.
Joanne drew attention in an off-shoulder white wedding gown featuring intricate lace sleeves and detailed beading as guests joined the couple in celebrating their new chapter.
