Police probe death of 12-year-old girl found unconscious in Machakos house
Detectives in Matungulu, Machakos County, have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a 12-year-old girl who was found unconscious inside a house before dying at Kangundo Level IV Hospital.
The Grade Five pupil at Kambusu Primary School was discovered on Wednesday, September 2, after she had reportedly been left alone in the house while taking her evening meal.
Police said the girl’s sister had left the house to irrigate crops in a nearby garden. It was during her absence that the girl was found unconscious.
She was rushed to Kangundo Level IV Hospital in an effort to save her life but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers from Tala Police Station later visited the scene, which was processed as detectives began piecing together the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Police said the girl’s body had visible marks around the neck, raising questions about what may have happened before she was found unconscious.
Her undergarments were also reportedly bloodstained, prompting detectives to investigate whether the circumstances surrounding her death involved criminal activity.
The body was moved to Kangundo Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination expected to establish the cause and manner of death.
Detectives are continuing with investigations, including efforts to establish what happened to the girl while she was alone in the house and whether anyone else was involved.
