Kenya Police gun down Bandari to go top as AFC Leopards return to winning ways

Burundian Etienne Ndayiragije and the enterprising Brian Musa were a beauty to watch as they demolished the Dockers

Kenya Police FC  remains in cruise mode after registering a 3-0 drubbing of blank Bandari FC this afternoon at Machakos Stadium.

With the convincing victory, the law enforcers are now at the top of the standings on 33 points after posting three wins in a row. Goals by Marvin Nabwire, Clinton Kinanga and Jesse Were in either sides of the half were sufficient to down the Dockers who are now down to eighth place with 23 points. Bandari are going through a bit of a rough patch with no win picked in their last five games.

The game was action packed with Police coached by Burundian Etienne Ndayiragije having lots of the ball with the enterprising Brian Musa running the strings in the middle of the pack. It was no surprise that in the opening 20 minutes after sustained pressure, Bandari under Coach Ken Odhiambo had already conceded two goals.

Next up for Police is an away fixture against newcomers Mara Sugar FC with Bandari welcoming strugglers Nairobi City Stars FC. Ambitious Police FC is on a mission to keep pace and clinch their maiden title in the top tier.

In another cracker of a contest played at SportPesa Arena in Murang’a County, AFC Leopards won 4-2 against fumbling KCB to move to fourth place on 25 points. At the weekend, Ingwe had suffered a similar fate surprisingly losing 2-4 to FC Talanta.

Ingwe under Interim Coach Fred Ambani made good amends with more positive play straight from the word go. It was an end to end duel with the Bankers under Patrick Odhiambo also giving a good account but was hard done by mistakes in the final third just like their laxity saw them allow four goals.

First half goals by Ken Owino (4th minute) and Ovella Ochieng (18th minute) was great for Leopards despite a fight-back from KCB who forced a tie at the break. However some tactical changes in the second half by the Ingwe bench were enough to turn things around.

A brace by exciting youngster Kelly Madada in the 50th and 80th minute proved too good to be replicated as the away team posted their third win in five matches ahead of their weekend duel with Muranga Seal at Dandora Stadium in Nairobi’s Eastlands.
