Police baffled after Gachagua uses ‘panya routes’ to Narok town wearing helmet

Helmet donning Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader and former Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua evaded police roadblocks to a triumphant entry into Narok town on Monday, to campaign for the party county assembly candidate, Douglas Masikonde.
Heavily armed contingents of police in riot combat manning roadblocks along the road leading to Narok town, after Gachagua’s entourage used ‘panya routes’ to triumphantly enter the populous Narok town.
“Being a villager, I engaged my fellow villagers in Narok who guided me through village paths unknown to the police. I made a triumphant entry in Narok town and was received by thousands of jubilant DCP supporters”, said the former deputy president.
The incident caused a heavy traffic snarl-up in Narok central business district and on roads leading into and out of town. Gachagua’s successful move to drum up support for Masikonde who is running for Narok DCP How can you beat me in my game?”, he exclaimed.
Police seemingly acting on instructions lobbed teargas canisters as Gachagua and Masikonde addressed a rally in Narok town to disperse their supporters.
“Clear instructions had been issued by this cowardly and brutal regime to block me and my entourage from accessing Narok Town to campaign for the DCP party candidate for Narok Town Ward Douglas Masikonde”, he said.
Platoons of armed officers had set up several barricades along Narok-Bomet road in attempt to block the former deputy president from accessing Narok Town to campaign for his party candidate as campaigns for the by election reached stretch.
Gachagua expressed his gratitude to the people of Narok, especially the young people for standing firm with him during his impromptu campaign tour.
In apparent reference to President William Ruto, he warned that no amount of blood money or excessive use force by the police will cow or intimidate the people of the of Kenya.
Gachagua noted that a people united are stronger than all roadblocks, bullets, stones, and all teargas in store, adding that the people’s will shall never be subverted.
