Commonwealth 100 meters Champion Ferdinand Omanyala has revealed that he will not be competing in the Diamond League meeting. He stated this was necessary in order to focus his energy on the coming championship races.
Omanyala revealed that there had been several requests to sway his decision but he had already made up his mind.
Having been victorious in both African and Commonwealth championships and later failing to reach the final at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, Omanyala expressed his regret for not reaching the final and instead vowed to work hard in the coming races.
“I think that was my lowest moment this season but a soldier lives to fight another day,” said Omanyala, who is currently in preparation ahead of the coming World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, next year.
The star who is back in training will be competing at the Spitzen Leichtathletik, a World Athletics Continental Silver Tour on August 30 at Stadion Allmend, Lucerne, Switzerland
After the Switzerland race, Omanyala will finalise this season with the World Athletics Continental Gold Tour, the Memorial Borisa Hanžekovića on September 9 to 11 at Sports Park Mladost, Zagreb, Croatia.
