ODM formally exit NASA coalition
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced its exit from the National Super Alliance (NASA).
During a National Executive Council meeting today which was chaired, the party resolved to exit the coalition
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM party has resolved to exit Nasa.
The Orange party announced on Thursday that it will write to the Registrar of Political Parties communicating its decision to exit the four-year-old coalition.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna made the announcement after a NEC meeting chaired by Raila.
“We still hold that Nasa is the past. To further demonstrate this point, the NEC of ODM has today resolved to formally exit the Nasa coalition,” Sifuna said.
Sifuna said the party intends to embark on a programme to build new partnerships and extend the ongoing talks with their potential partners to the grassroots.
This comes days after Wiper and Amani National Congress (ANC) resolved to quite Nasa.
This will now make Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula form One Kenya Alliance (OKA).
Sifuna was accompanied by ODM chairman John Mbadi, MPs Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) and Dennita Ghati (nominated) among other NEC members.
Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta are scheduled to have the ‘Handshake’ tour.
During the visit, the President is scheduled to inspect and launch major projects in Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, Busia, and Trans Nzoia counties.
Ahead of the eagerly-awaited visit, the President met the region’s five governors namely, Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Wilber Ottichilo (Vihiga), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia) and Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), and Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and John Munyes (Petroleum) at Statehouse, Nairobi before his trip to the UK.
