Ngirici names former KRA assistant commissioner as her running mate
Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Wangui Ngirici has chosen Eliud Wanjao Ngige, a former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) assistant commissioner as her running mate in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial contest.
Wanjao stated that in order to provide services to Wananchi, all officers would be subject to a performance contracting program that will be assessed annually to see if they have met established goals.
He said that if they win, their administration’s priority will be on health, value addition of horticulture produces such as tomatoes, building up companies, youth employment, and revitalizing the tourism sector in the county, which hosts a big portion of Mount Kenya.
Ngirici left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of Deputy President William Ruto to run as an independent candidate, citing favouritism.
Despite being one of Ruto’s early supporters, the Woman Representative claimed that Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru was given preference for the UDA ticket.
Ngirici created a stir when she revealed her campaign slogan, “Smairo ni tiki,” which used a photo of her own teeth as her symbol.
