Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara tells off DCI as she fails to honour summons ove youth demos
Laying blame on President William Ruto, the lawmaker claimed she was being pursued for her resolve to call out the supposed maladministration in the current regime
Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Njeri Kihara has written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), saying she is unable to help them in the alleged ongoing investigations over allegations that she undermined authority contrary to Section 132 of the Penal Code.
In a letter by her legal team, led by Ndegwa Njiru, the legislator has stated that she is unable to appear at Mazingira House as it is against the law and was declared unconstitutional by the court.
“I fulfillment of her obligation under Article 3 of the Constitution, to respect and uphold the Constitution, our client finds herself unable to participate in the process founded upon a law that has been declared invalid,” the MP said through the letter by her lawyers.
“While may hold a contrary belief which may differ from yours, she is regrettably unable to assist in your investigations,” the letter added.
The MP, who is an ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, had been summoned to appear at the DCI headquarters by the Assistant Inspector General of Police George Kisaka, stationed at the DCI headquarters.
Kihara was informed that the summons was issued by the alleged “dissemination of inciteful or disruptive content”, which she is accused of.
“I have reasons to believe that you (Jayne Njeri Wanjiku Kihara, MP Naivasha Constituency) are connected to the offence or have information that can assist me in my investigations,” partly read the summons letter. She was asked to show up Monday morning, failure to which she would be subjected to prosecution.

“The days of intimidating leaders using the criminal justice system are long gone. Summoning me to DCI headquarters tomorrow will not change Kenyans’ resolve because it’s not about Jayne Kihara but our country, Kenya. Mr. President, this is a tried and tested strategy; it has not worked before, it will not work with you either. These political persecutions will not stop us from calling out this oppressive regime,” she said.
