Nairobi man facing rape, assault and threatening to kill charges against a woman
Police and prosecutors are pursuing a multi-count criminal case against a Nairobi man accused of a series of offences involving sexual violence, physical assault, and threats, with investigators focusing on a pattern of alleged abuse spanning several weeks.
Ronald Ngatia Wanjiru was arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts on January 29, 2026, facing four serious charges linked to incidents said to have occurred in Mwiki Township, Kasarani Sub-County, between October and November 2025.
However, he denied all the charges.
Court documents indicate that the allegations are not isolated but form part of what investigators describe as repeated acts against the same complainant (name withheld).
The victim is being represented by Turunga Ithagi Advocates.
The prosecution alleges that on October 18, 2025, Ngatia committed an indecent act by forcibly touching the complainant’s breasts and genital area without her consent, an offence charged under the Sexual Offences Act.
Further investigations allege that during the same period, the accused forcibly stripped the complainant naked and restrained her by tying her hands with a rope, forming the basis of a separate charge of insulting the modesty of a woman.
“On the 18th day of October 2025 at Mwiki Township in Kasarani Sub-County, you intentionally touched the breast and vagina of (complainant, name withheld by this publication) with your hands against her will,” the charge sheet reads in part.
Detectives are examining whether the alleged acts occurred in private premises, the presence of witnesses, and whether the complainant sought medical attention or reported the incidents immediately.
In addition, Ngatia faces a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, with prosecutors alleging repeated physical attacks that resulted in injuries.
Medical reports and photographic evidence are expected to play a key role in substantiating this count, alongside witness statements and timelines compiled by investigators.
The fourth count relates to alleged threats to kill, with the prosecution relying on digital evidence, including text messages reportedly sent by the accused.
Investigators are subjecting the messages to forensic analysis to confirm authorship, timing, and context, as such evidence is central to demonstrating intent and credibility of the threats.
During the bail hearing, defence efforts to secure a reduction in cash bail were challenged by counsel holding brief for the complainant, who cited public outrage and concerns over the accused’s release.
The court opted to order a pre-bail report to assess factors including flight risk, community safety, and the accused’s background.
The matter will be mentioned on March 5, 2026, when the court is expected to review the pre-bail report and issue further directions.
Until then, the court directed, the accused remains in custody.
