Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja’s popularity ratings slumps to a low of 11.2 per cent
The cited corruption and maladministration as the rampant ill at City Hall at 42.1 per cent, environmental pollution at 24.6 per cent, road traffic at 11.1 per cent and harassment by City County officers (10.2 per cent).
The popularity ratings of the Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja have slumped to a new low with only a marginal 11.2 per cent of the respondents saying they would re-elect him if elections are held today, a new poll survey released by Politrack Africa shows.
On the other hand, 42.3 per cent of the respondents said they would vote against Sakaja if elections were held today.
Further, in what indicts the administration of the first time governor, 57.3 per cent of the Nairobi residents said they are not happy with the Nairobi county government leadership and the direction the county is headed.

Interestingly about 51.1 per cent of the residents said they would re-elect Senator Edwin Sifuna, with his highest approval ratings coming from Kibra Constituency with 69.0 per cent and Starehe constituency with 67.9 per cent.
However, 25.2 per cent of the residents disclosed that they would re-elect Woman Rep for Nairobi County, Esther Passaris, while 21.3 per cent revealed that they would vote against her, with 51.1 per cent of her strongest approval coming from Westlands Constituency
The study indicated that only 18.7 per cent of city residents believe the country is headed in the right direction, while 11.1 per cent are not so sure about the right or wrong direction.
About 10.7 per cent of the residents said that they don’t know the direction that the county is headed, while 2.2 per cent refused to answer.
Only residents residing in constituencies such as Starehe approved the performance of the county government with 50.1 per cent, Embakasi North with 49.1 per cent, Kibra with 47.5 per cent, and Embakasi Central with 46.7 per cent.
However, residents who live in constituencies such as Embakasi East did not approve the government with 31.4 per cent), Mathare with 23.4 per cent, Westlands with 23.1 per cent Kasarani with 20.1 per cent, Kamukunji with 19.4 per cent, and Roysambu with 12.2 per cent.
The residents approved the performance rating in environment pollution with 50.0 per cent, Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) with 47.6 per cent, Health with 33.4 per cent, youth and sports with 31.2 per cent.
In areas such as traffic management the approval was rated at 23.4 per cent, trade at 20.7 per cent, water and sanitation at 13.6 per cent, roads at 12.1 per cent, fight against corruption at 8.1 per cent, and urban planning at 6.7 per cent.
