Usawa Party leader Mwangi Wa Iria has claimed that there should be no elections come August if the government is not willing to lower the prices of Unga.
The Murang’a governor said that the Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration should lower the high cost of living failure that the self-proclaimed Mt. Kenya kingpin said will ask his supporters to boycott the fast-approaching polls.
“I have gone to court to petition the government to reduce the price of Unga to Sh100. There will be no election if the prices of essential commodities don’t go down. They can eat my candidature but my Usawa party will not support Kenyans going hungry,” Wa Iria said.
The presidential hopeful also reiterated that despite submitting all the required documents to the electoral commission led by Wafula Chebukati couldn’t understand why his name is missing on the nomination schedule released by the Commission.
He threatened to stop the presidential poll slated for August 9 if his name is not added to the register.
“The four presidential candidates were cleared even without being verified if they are legitimate voters in their respective polling stations. This election is a sham. William Ruto can’t say anything because he is already cleared, while Martha Karua and Raila can’t speak because they are eating from the same kitchen as the system. Chebukati is being guarded to lead this nation to chaos,” stated Wa Iria.
The two-time governor further claimed that the fast-approaching August elections are a sham given that the system has planned to rig the polls.
“Even people who failed to meet requirements are in the schedule, but my name has been removed… no election will be conducted if I will not contest,” he charged adding that there is a plot to rig the election.
The presidential hopeful stated that his candidature had been endorsed by 48,000 voters from 24 counties in line with the IEBC guidelines.
IEBC chairman turned away Wa Iria forcing the county chief to seek the services of Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court while at the same time saying his life is in danger.
“I have asked CJ Koome to accord me a judge and deal with this matter once and for all given that it’s one month down the line. If I lose at the Supreme Court I will give up but as we stand, I’m still on the ballot. They can steal my time but not my votes,” Wa Iria said.
