Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi suspends all county employees

Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi has suspended all the senior county employees to pave way for fresh financial and human resource audit.

The governor elect ordered the county secretary, the chief of staff, sub- county administrators, Chief Executive Committee members, Chief Officers, Town Administrator and the ward administrators to proceed on compulsory leave until fresh audit is complete to determine their fate.

“To enable us achieve an efficient, clean and effective civil service we have decided to send all the senior officers on indefinite leave in a bid to clean up all the rot that has been going on the previous regime,” noted the former senator.

Murungi said the move is in a bid to stem out corruption vices in the county public services without interference from the senior officers whom he said their fate will be determined after the audit report is out.

“It is our intention to make and inherit a clean government that is why I and my deputy governor have decided to request the office of the Auditor General to carry special financial audit to enable us deliver services to the people of Meru,”noted Murungi.

He said the affected together with the public should not read any malice in the move meant to enhance effective service delivery noting if the chief officers are allowed to continue being in office they are likely to interfere with the investigations
