Malombe urges nurses to resume duty as payment talks continue

Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has revealed the national and county governments’ willingness to pay striking nurses their dues but urged the medics to resume duty pending resolution of the pay stalemate.

Speaking in Kitui Town, the county boss said the Kenya National Union of Nurses was still negotiating with the governments and that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

Dr Malombe, however, called on KNUN to cooperate with the State so as to pave way for implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) but within the precincts of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission’s guidelines.
