Lawyer Philip Murgor suitability to represent Wairimu in Cohen murder case challenged

The widow to slain Dutch tycoon failed to take plea for third time following claims that her lawyer Philip Murgor is a state prosecutor.

This is after lawyer Cliff Ombeta for the Cohen family questioned whether Murgor is legally and ethically suitable to represent Wairimu in court since he still a special staff with the office of the  Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Ombeta urge the court to disqualified Murgor from the case as he was appointed as a public prosecutor on January 19 this year for a period of two years.

Further, Ombeta informed High court Judge Stella Mutuku ,Murgor he has never resigned as a special prosecutor following his appointment by the DPP Noordin Haji.

Murgor, however, dismissed the allegations saying that he resigned from his post at the DPP’s office, and that he has a resignation letter dated March 7, 2019 to prove his claim.
