Laikipia East MP Anthony Mutahi defends construction of toilets in schools using CDF

Laikipia East Member of Parliament Anthony Mutahi has defended construction of toilets in public primary schools in his constituency using the NG-CDF.

Mutahi noted that his critics have been castigating the move without thinking how deplorable the toilets are in most schools especially those within Nanyuki town.

He said that parents from the schools could not be able to facilitate construction of the toilets after the government rolled the free primary education and the vital facility was left behind.

The MP who was speaking at Likii Primary school when he opened Toilets and five classrooms renovated using the kitty said that children need good latrines and there is no restriction in constructing some in primary schools.

Mutahi quoted a case where two pupils from a school in Laikipia West died last year after their toilets caved in while they were inside and questioned whether that is what those castigating the move want for innocent children.

He vowed to continue with the noble projects since most parents and children have asked for assistance in building toilets. At the same time he urged parents to be the role model in making sure that their children are going to school and motivate them without worrying where school fees for higher education will come from.

He noted that the National and County governments have set aside millions of money towards educating bright children from poor backgrounds in form of bursary and full sponsorship and there will be no hindrance in educating these children.
