Karua insist she will not spare any corrupt individual if Azimio wins August elections

Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate Martha Karua has vowed to go after corrupt individuals if the coalition is elected in the fast-approaching general elections in August.

“Those that know me, understand that I don’t play nor laugh when it comes to work, we shall sweep out all corrupt individuals,” Karua said.

Her sentiments come days after President Uhuru Kenyatta said that Karua doesn’t joke and that she will not forgive corrupt politicians like he did during his 10-year rule.

Uhuru while touring Kasarani, Nairobi County, on Tuesday heaped praise on Karua, saying she is a consummate leader who will fight corruption in the next administration should they get elected.

The Head of State said he has been merciful to rogue officials but under an Odinga-Karua administration, all corrupt leaders will be sent to jail.

“Martha is a lady who doesn’t joke, and I am very sure she will not give all these corrupt leaders and looters a chance. They will be languishing in the cells, she is not like me who forgave them, Karua cannot forgive them,” he said.

President Kenyatta similarly rallied residents to vote for Odinga and Karua come August 9, saying the Azimio leader was the only candidate who will carry on with development projects initiated by his administration.

During the running mate unveiling ceremony held at KICC in May, Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga announced that should his movement ascend into power, Karua will not only be a deputy president, but also the Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
