The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has sacked eleven magistrates over corruption, incompetence and gross misconduct.
The eleven were part of the 15 magistrates who had been on interdiction. After reviewing their cases, JSC reinstated one, issued one with a warning and cases of two others were deferred pending further investigations.
Chief Justice David Maraga said the JSC had also looked into cases of three judicial officers and warned that the disciplinary process in the judiciary had not ended with the vetting exercise.
“Fighting corruption, improving service delivery and enhancing individual performance and accountability are the key pillars of my blueprint; Sustaining judiciary transformation: A service Delivery Agenda, which I launched about two weeks ago. In that document, I also promised that I would fastrack JSC disciplinary process. The decisions that JSC has made today are consistent with these commitments,” Maraga said in a statement.
