JP to hold nomination certificates until all petitions are heard
The Jubilee Party will not issue nomination certificates until all petitions have been heard and determined, Secretary General Raphael Tuju has said.
Tuju said that the issuance of the certificates would be delayed as officials peruse petition papers.
“We were supposed to be ready by today but a delay has been occasioned by the many petitions coming through,” Tuju added.
Yesterday irate consitituents from Kamkunji , Starehe and Embakasi West flocked outside the party headquarters with banners demanding for a repeat of the excerise claiming that they were marred with irregularities and rigging.
Tuju said “We are on track with the nomination process the Jubilee Party Appeals Tribunal is still in session there are a total of three chambers dealing with the cases.”
He added that close ninety aspirants had filed out of 8,000 who had partcipated in the excerse but assured members that they be settled in time ready for the issuance of certificates.
Tuju said that the Starehe parliamentary aspirant Charles Njagua Kanyi was going through the process of filing an appeal.
He assured Njagua’s supporters that the tribunal will look into the data that came from the field and they would come up with an announcement.
“The committee has also summoned aread Mp Maina Kamanda, who has been accused by Njagua of having meddled with the process hence denying him victory.
Tuju also said that “if in any case you had filled a complaint it is bieng attended to.”
Tuju also added that the tribunal is also interrogating the returning officers and the presiding officers involved in areas with despute.
He assured the aspirants that the tribunal is working fast and the process of handing out the nominations certificate will be done immediately the petitions are heard and settled.
