“I’m Straight!”: Karauri denies alleged gay affair, offers Sh10million challenge to Obare

Embattled Kasarani Member of Parliament (MP) and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri has broken his silence following the circulation of alleged screenshots and a video purportedly shared by a young man claiming to be his former lover.

For several days, Karauri has been trending on social media after the individual alleged that they had been in a secret romantic relationship that later turned sour.

The man further claimed that his life had been under threat since the fallout. Screenshots and a short video allegedly showing the two in a romantic setting have widely circulated online, amplified by gossip platforms including that of blogger Edgar Obare.

Karauri, who had initially remained silent, addressed the claims in a video posted on his X platform account. Dismissing the allegations as fabricated, he firmly denied being involved in any same-sex relationship.

“I usually don’t address nonsense, but for this one I will speak on it. First of all, I am the straightest guy you will meet. If I am going to have issues it is with women. Women are the root of all my problems in this life,” he said. He suggested the claims could be politically motivated, adding that if the matter was political, he was ready to face his opponents “in the ring.”

Karauri also directly challenged Edgar Obare to publish the alleged video, pledging to pay Sh10 million if it exists. He accused the blogger of attempting extortion and insisted no such video was in his possession.

“If you have the video, share it. I will give you up to 5pm today to post it and entertain all of us. I have Sh10million for you,” he stated.

He added that if no video is produced, Sh8 million would be donated to his foundation, while Sh2million would sponsor the Majembe match.
