I’m on maternity leave, ‘missing’ Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika reveals

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika says she is on maternity leave ending speculation she is having a good time out of the country even as service delivery in the county suffers.

In a statement issued today on her behalf by Dr Peter Ketyenya, Kihika assured Nakuru residents that service delivery is proceeding as envisaged under guidance of the team led by Deputy Governor David Kones.

“I have no doubts whatsoever in HE Kones leading them in my absence. I will be resuming official duties at the end of my leave in the next few weeks,” added the governor, who revealed she had received numerous calls regarding her absence.

Social media has been awash with posts with netizens accusing her of neglecting her duties to spend time in Texas, United States.

Some revived claims that emerged during the 2022 campaign period that the governor hold dual citizenship for Kenya and the US where she previously worked and lived, with others claiming she was running the county government virtually.

Kihika holds a Degree in Political Science and Government from the University of North Texas in Denton and a Juris Doctor degree from the South Methodist University, Texas, and was first admitted to the Texas Bar
